Action Mesothelioma Day 2011 took place on Friday 1st July. Hundreds of asbestosis disease sufferers and their families came together at events staged at UK regional areas of former industrial and manufacturing asbestos use, including Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds and Plymouth to warn of a growing asbestos crisis.

A ruling today in the Supreme Court has upheld a decision to compensate two victims of mesothelioma, an incurable lung cancer, who had been exposed to small amounts of asbestos dust.

Mr B is awarded  £12,500 on behalf of his late father who tragically died suffering from an asbestos related condition.  His Father was exposed to asbestos dust whilst working as an Electrician for contractor firm Holliday Hall and Stinson during the construction of Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station in 1968.  After being taken on by the CEGB to work in this power station he continued to be exposed to asbestos whilst performing his duties up until 1976
