Asbestos Threat Underestimated In The UK
More than half of work-related deaths from six major cancers in the UK are due to asbestos, according to a recent London-based public health report, and estimates are greater than those currently used in UK health and safety strategy planning.

The recent death of former Sex Pistols Manager, Malcolm McLaren, aged 64, may have been caused by exposure to asbestos at ‘Sex’, his Kings Road fashion clothes store, over thirty years ago, and which may have led to contracting the aggressive form of asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma.
Asbestos Disease Statistics Expose The Truth
In October 2009, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) released figures on asbestos diseases, including asbestosis and mesthelioma. Revealing a high number of sufferers currently pursuing asbestos compensation, should by now have silenced some press naysayers who downplay the problem.
The blow dealt by the recent let down from the Government, ruling out mesothelioma compensation for pleural plaques sufferers, was softened by plans announced to create an Employers’ Liability Tracing Bureau and the setting up of a UK National Centre for Asbestos Related Disease.
