Anti asbestos activists from around the world met in Turin, Italy, in March to campaign against the hazards of asbestos and to call for a world wide ban.

The HSE have reported that asbestos surveys are only useful if there are undertaken by suitably qualified and competent surveyors.  They are now running road shows in conjunction with British Occupational Hygiene Society and Asbestos Testing and Consultancy. 

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has fined building firm Nationwide Building Contractors Ltd £4,500 for breach of asbestos regulations for its work during refurbishment to Hall Garth Golf and Country Club, near Darlington.

The Co-Operative Insurance is calling upon the insurance industry to support government plans to help people affected by asbestos related illnesses to get compensation from individual insurers or an industry scheme.

It is forecast that asbestos related disease such as asbestosis and mesothelioma are expected to peak around 2020. This means that there will be thousands of people who have been diagnosed with an illness caused by asbestos seeking legal asbestos or mesothelioma compensation, by a variety of ways.
