The campaigns for winning asbestos compensation can often appear to be hard fought with asbestosis lawyers battling to overcome a great deal of resistance to the idea that even a low level exposure to asbestos is a risk to health.

I am writing this article in relation to asbestos compensation, as over the last few weeks there has been a tendency in the press namely The Daily Mail and Daily Express to vilify victims of mesothelioma as ambulance chasers and suggest those willing to forgo significant compensation on behalf of deceased family members are heroes or heroines.

Dentists are often at a high risk of developing mesothelioma, the cancer caused by asbestos. Reports have suggested that over exposure to asbestos, which has been used in dentistry in things like casting rings for more than 80 years, makes dentists more likely to be develop mesothelioma.

You may be aware of the recent Government decision to compensate some victims of pleural plaques caused by asbestos exposure.  As you know, since 2007 sufferers have been unable to claim compensation for pleural plaques injuries following a House of Lords case.
