The government has decided to make payments to those who had begun, but not resolved legal claims for compensation for pleural plaques before a Law Lords ruling in October 2007.

Following the Government’s announcement this morning that only some pleural plaques victims will receive a compensation payment more details of their asbestos plan have been made known.  We have summarised them as

The horrifying reality is, that until fairly recently, you were almost certain not to be safe just walking around in your own home because almost all floor tiles manufactured in the past few decades up until the mid 80’s, contained asbestos! It’s strange wonder then that not more people have come forward to claim legal entitlement to asbestos compensation.

A widow from Wigan has won a landmark victory that may assist thousands of other victims of asbestos.

In recent years, many steps have been taken to remove asbestos from buildings and commercial products in an effort to reduce human exposure which leads to asbestos related disease, notably asbestosis.  Asbestos however, is still a relevant hazard today, found in a number of different forms.
